What Is Blockchain?

Blockchain, at its heart, is a digital ledger distributed which stores information of any type. Blockchains are able to record data regarding transactions in cryptocurrency, NFT ownership or De Fi smart contracts. Although any database could be used to store this type of data Blockchain is different because it's completely decentralized. Instead of being kept in a single place, through a central administrator -- think that of the Excel spreadsheet or bank Databases are spread across multiple computers on the network. A node is a computer that connects to other nodes.

How Does a Blockchain Work?

If blockchain technology is allowed without trust or central authority, it can be useful or even the best invention. Imagine that you and I are betting $100 on the weather tomorrow in Melbourne. It will be sunny. You bet it'll rain. We have three options today to manage.

We can trust each other. If any session is winter or sunny, the loser will be given 100$ to a winner. If we are friends, this could be a good way of management. But you can not  trust friends or strangers and not easily give payment to others

You can convert the bet to a contract. A contract will make it more likely that both the parties will pay. If one of the parties decides not to pay, then the other party will need to pay extra money for legal expenses. This could make the case very long. This is not the best way to handle a transaction, especially if it's a small amount.

A neutral third party can be involved. Each of us will give $100 to a third person, who will award the winning amount. She could also take all of our money. We end up with either trust or a contract.
